SyFy’s new series “Warehouse 13” premiered on Tuesday. It wasn’t too bad for a low budget TV series.
The plot is about two Secret Service agents (male & female) who recently saved the President’s life and are reassigned to a mysterious warehouse in the middle of nowhere in North Dakota. The agents soon learn with help from Artie, a warehouse employee, that its secret governmental function is store objects that have powers that are not yet understood. Artie refers to the warehouse as “America’s attic.” The inside scenes of the warehouse show it filled with eclectic mix of objects from a helicopter to a wallet – all containing mysterious powers.
The first hour of the premier dealt with how & why the agents came to the warehouse. The second hour had the agents searching for an object that has caused people to act strange in a small town in Iowa. I imagine that subsequent episodes will follow the same format as the second hour with the agents off searching for a mysterious object somewhere (which always looks remarkably like Vancouver, Canada as all SyFy shows do.)
The chemistry between the lead male and female actors was good. Of course there are some major gaffs such as:
- Why is there no fence surrounding a secret government warehouse?
- Why is there a huge pile of cow manure directly in front of the warehouse? Is it possessed too and waiting to be stored in the warehouse? Or is part cover to make no one take notice a building the size of a couple of aircraft hangers sitting near the Badlands.
I plan to watch the next episode if I remember. This is not the type of show that I plan to make time to watch.
