Torun – Summer 2009

Ela and I went into Torun on August 31, 2009 to walk around and see the sights.  Not much has changed from last summer.  It is remarkable how Torun has been transformed over the 15 years that I have been visiting it.  When I first visited the city it still had the communist drabness to it.  Now it is vibrant as any western European city.  It is referred to as the Krakow of the North of Poland.  We noticed many tourists walking around too from all over the world.  I particularly like the outdoor cafes that have sprung up all around the old city in the last couple years.  Life is good with a little Polish food and beer.

We had lunch outside at one of the cafes behind the Town Hall.  The old city of Torun is one of the prettiest places that I have ever been to.  Photos from the trip are below:
