200px-Surrogates2009MPSurrogates was an OK science fiction film staring Bruce Willis.  I have enjoyed many of the science fiction films featuring Bruce Willis.  They are usually quirky and very well done.  This film was an exception.  I had the sense that everyone was going through the motions and no effort to make anything greater than a revenue generating movie.

The film is based in 2017, where the majorities of people stays in their homes and live their lives through robotic surrogates.  Bruce Willis’ character, an FBI agent named Tom Greer, tracks down the killer of the son of the inventor of surrogates.  The underlining emotional factor to the movie is Tom Greer is trying to reconnect to his wife who through her surrogate has grown detached from him.

The movie did little to convenience me that people could want to spend their days in a recliner living their lives through a robot.  Even if the technology could be invented to feel and get our brains accept the input it could never replace our own physical feelings.  We are physical creatures and personally feel my best after physical activity.

I would recommend waiting for this movie to come on a premium channel or network TV to watch.  It certainly wasn’t worth the matinee fee that I paid.  I hope that Bruce Willis picks a better script to star in the future.
