I have wanted to see the Wieliczka Salt Mine since I saw it featured on a History Channel documentary four or five years ago. The mine is the oldest continually operated mine in the world and is filled with statues craved from salt. It is only about 14 kilometers from Krakow so Ela and I went to see following touring the city. The mine is the largest tourist attraction in Poland. Why is understandable after taking the tour.
The following are my pictures from the tour. I paid the requried 10 zyloty to be able to take pictures, but most people took photos without permission. The guide didn’t stop anybody not authorized from taking photos.
