Corsair by Clive Cussler with Jack Du Brul was an enjoyable over the top action novel. Cussler’s books are like a post Sean Connery James Bond film with all the action and impossibilities.
Corsair is from the Oregon files which feature Juan Cabrillo as the one legged chairman of an American mercenary group called The Corporation. They operate from a specially rebuilt freighter that is part spy ship and part merchant raider.
In this novel, Juan and his crew are called to find the U.S. Secretary of State whose plane has crashed in Libya. She was on her way to a peace conference. It is quickly discovered that extremists are at work trying to prevent the conference. Juan and his crew venture through Libya to unravel the shadowy extremist organization headed by the enigmatic Suleiman Al-lama.
As with all Clive Cussler books, it starts out with a historical action whose mystery is solved at the end. In this novel the mystery is regarding a Barbary pirate involved with the USS Syren and USS Intrepid burning the USS Philadelphia in 1804.
Clive Cussler books are extremely enjoyable mindless reading before bed. I have a couple more Cussler novels from the library so more reviews to come over the next couple weeks.

I’m a big fan of Clive Cussler. The first book of his that I read was Plague Ship, also of the Oregon Files. I’m currently reading Arctic Drift, a Dirk Pitt novel.
