Microsoft exec: We’re still “outgunned” in search

With a 9.9% share of the search market, Microsoft has “a very long way to go” to catch up with Google, Microsoft’s Yusuf Mehdi told a conference this week. But under a proposed deal to power Yahoo! search — provided it is approved by regulators as expected next year — the combined search engines will “be a strong No. 2 by getting to 30 percent share,” Mehdi said.
