Honeymoon by James Patterson & Howard Roughan

I have no idea why Honeymoon by James Patterson & Howard Roughan made the New York Times Bestseller list.  The plot was very convoluted and didn’t come close to being plausible.

The story centers on FBI agent, John O’Hara, investigating a black widow who kills her husbands.  In the course of the investigation, the agent falls for the woman creating a totally unbelievable situation.  The absurdity of the book is compounded that when the book starts she has only killed one husband and there is no evidence of any foul play.  So why would, the FBI invest in such an elaborate effort to investigate the woman.  There is a side plot to the main story that is even sillier and totally ridiculous.

I think James Patterson is very overrated.  I do like the Alex Cross books, but the other thrillers I have read are absurd and usually make little sense.  Honeymoon did have some good twists and surprises, but that hardly made up for lack of a solid story.  I had to force myself to finish this book.  It was very easy to put down.
